We held the Brighton & Hove Eco-Dinner Club and Circular Economy Club summer reception at the wonderful new Volks Railway station, next to the Palace Pier on the Earth Overshoot day (1st August). We are an action based group, I therefore decided to cater for the event using the restaurants and cafe's that are part of the TooGoodToGo app.
The reception started for attendees with a ride on the oldest running electric railway in the world, to the Marina and back. Whilst they were networking on the train, I collected food that was due to be wasted from the following: Moshimo, This Little Piggy, Smorls, Twin Pines Coffee, My Coffee Story and Sugar Dough, whilst John collected from Down to Earth. The food was really good and the fact that we avoided 125km of driving, 4 showers and about 15kg of food going to landfill was great. The drinks were purchased from FourPure and English Sparkling Wine Company. The event was sponsored by SOENECS.
We had a presentation from Peter about his Circular Economy course in Amsterdam, a talk on Volks railway from Lily and I gave an update on the food and the Circular Economy Vision we are discussing with Brighton & Hove City Council.
Great food, drink and discussions, come join the next event - on "Fashion and Sustainability, are they compatible?"
