Tech-Takeback was initiated as a circular innovation trial with SOENECS and Dr David Greenfield as core collaborators, both in the trial and then in the establishment and development of Tech-Takeback as a not-for-profit providing secure, sustainable solutions for unwanted electricals while supporting charities and promoting digital inclusion. It is a forward-thinking initiative that focuses on addressing the growing issue of electronic waste and promoting sustainable consumption of electronics. The organisation, based in the Brighton, encourages individuals to responsibly dispose of their old and unused tech and offers a unique trade-in model. It partners with local communities, businesses, and organisations to set up collection points for electronic devices, preventing them from ending up in landfills. Tech-Takeback emphasises the importance of refurbishing and extending the lifespan of electronics by working with experts to repair and upgrade devices. They also educate consumers about the environmental impact of e-waste, such as toxic chemicals and resource depletion, and promote conscious consumption habits. See here for more details.
